Channel Manager - Brussels


As Channel Manager, you'll collaborate with members to enhance the visibility and performance of sustainable products.

Our client, a Belgian non-profit organization, focuses on household packaging waste management. Operating under the principle of extended producer responsibility, they collaborate closely with manufacturers, importers, municipalities, and recycling facilities to ensure the efficient collection, sorting, and recycling of packaging materials such as paper, cardboard, glass, plastics, and metals.

Beyond managing waste logistics, our client plays a vital role in public education, partnering with schools, businesses, and community groups to raise awareness about recycling practices and promote participation in recycling programs.

Their dedication to fostering sustainable waste practices contributes significantly to minimizing the environmental impact of consumer goods and advancing Belgium's efforts in packaging waste management.


As Channel Manager, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Build long-term trusted relationships with marketing and communication departments of companies operating in the food and distribution sectors.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to be the primary point of contact for members' marketing or communication managers.
  • Work with members to develop approaches to increase the visibility and performance of their sustainable products to customers and end consumers.
  • Engage the members in the Out of Home (OOH) approach: OOH locations are the sales/distribution channels and clients of the members.
  • Advise the members on the use of the company's value proposition: visibility, Design for Recycling, Design for Reuse, Corporate Sustainability, etc.
  • Continuously develop and deploy the company's offering (by staying in touch with the market, conducting field visits, conducting market research, etc.) to support OOH locations in their sustainability efforts, waste management in specific sectors such as hospitality, public transportation, retail, events, sports, tourism.
  • Participate in various project groups led by the marketing or communication manager and assist them in developing an action plan for the implementation, development, and monitoring of their waste sorting and internal and external awareness projects.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in marketing and/or in a customer-facing role within a marketing/communications agency.
  • Fluency in Dutch, French, and English.
  • Excellent proficiency in preparing and delivering presentations.
  • Experience in FMCG or Retail is highly desirable.
  • Ability to establish new contacts and advocate for the client's interests.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Active listening abilities, maintaining open dialogue with counterparts both internally and externally.
  • Strong persuasive skills, utilizing relevant and decisive arguments to articulate viewpoints effectively.
  • Capability to identify opportunities for expanding collaboration with company members and various partners (e.g., OOH, waste operators).
  • Aptitude for problem identification and a consistent drive to gather additional information for finding effective solutions.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make independent decisions while considering the organization's long-term objectives.
