Front End Studies Engineer (m/f/x

Within the Antwerp Platform, we are looking for a Front End Studies Engineer (m/f/x).

The jobholder is performing project development work and is responsible for occasional high workload for reviews and project scope/execution alignment.
He/she has creativity and continuous learning since the projects always have aspects that are new, and the technical environment is very complex and multi-disciplinary.

He/she develops international contacts due to the use of major external engineering companies and vendors plus use of the expertise of the group.

He/she has an excellent coordination and communication between various internal and external parties for the realization of the project, because of the large number of stakeholders.


Your tasks:

  1. Independently manage and develop multidisciplinary technical projects in a qualitative way from concept up to Final Investment Decision.
  • Structured coordination of project development activities, requiring input of Antwerp platform departments (operations, safety, environmental, maintenance, inspection,…) and other nonAntwerp platform departments ( central JNSN Experts entities, authorities, other JNSN Experts sites, non-JNSN Experts sites).
  • Able to treat independently with experts from all disciplines complex technological subjects impacting the project scope.
  • Execute field visits to assure constructability and ergonomics of selected project scope options.
  • Prepare and force management decisions for difficult project scope early enough for avoiding ‘redo' of complex projects. Regular structured reporting of project status at various project committees.
  1. Translate performance improvements and business ideas in concrete projects.
  2. During Detailed Engineering: delivery of process support during execution of the project.
    Coordination or execution of process studies of process units and utilities.

  • Master in engineering.
  • Minimum ⚠ years' experience in technical environment, including ⚠-⚠ years in process engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge of refinery & petrochemical processes and hazards, advanced knowledge of different process engineering disciplines and best practices, good knowledge of different engineering disciplines (pressure vessels, piping, civil, electrical,…), legislation and codes.
  • Project management skills and experience for leading complex projects
  • Very good organizational and communication competencies.
  • The good knowledge of Dutch or English - and willing to learn Dutch during the first year(s).
  • Technical feeling and critical attitude.
