Purchasing Manager

Om ons team te Tienen te versterken, zijn we op zoek naar een (m/v/x) Purchasing Manager


You will be based in Tienen and will secure a qualitative, cost-efficient and timely supply of technical goods and services, auxiliaries, and packaging materials. In this role you will be guided and supervised by our Director of Controlling and Purchasing. Here is what you will be doing:

  • Price Negotiations & Procurement: You will initiate price requests, negotiate contracts, place orders for goods and services, and secure correct cost allocation of orders and contracts
  • Contract Coordination: You will set up new contracts and secure the administration of service contracts
  • Procurement Alignment: You will support and verify the alignment and implementation of procurement with the Südzucker guidelines across our sugar factories in Belgium
  • Supplier Management: You will coordinate supplier evaluation, supplier scoring and corrective measures. You will also streamline and standardise the supplier database
  • Collaboration & Support: You will build up a close collaboration with the local purchasers and production engineers across our Belgian sites, as well as colleagues in HQ and Mannheim to ensure seamless purchasing activities
  • Project Involvement: You will contribute to improvement and investment projects, collaborating with respective project teams to drive success
  • Market Analysis & Innovation: You will conduct market analysis, propose alternatives, and follow up the market trends in order to keep us ahead of the curve.

For the position of Purchasing Manager you will also need:

  • A Master's degree is a must (e.g. industrial or commercial engineering) or equivalent through extensive and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of technical purchasing experience in an (international) manufacturing group is required
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch, English and French
  • A good knowledge of MS Office (incl. Excel) is important, knowledge of an ERP system (preferably SAP) is a plus
  • Willingness to travel regularly to the Belgian factories is necessary.
